Creating Safe Spaces for Healing, Growth & Connection

As a Certified Trauma-Informed Coach and Primary School Teacher, I help individuals, families, schools and organisations better understand the impact of trauma, regulate their nervous systems, and create environments where people can truly thrive.

Meet Emily Parker

For years, I've witnessed the incredible transformation that happens when people feel safe, supported, and truly understood.

My own experience of healing from narcissistic abuse led me to discover the power of nervous system regulation and trauma-informed approaches. Combined with my background as a primary school teacher, this journey sparked a passion for helping both adults and children navigate life's challenges with greater understanding and compassion.

Today, I work with individuals, parents, schools and organisations to create trauma-informed spaces where wellbeing, connection and growth can flourish.

Why Trauma-Informed Support Matters

Many of the struggles we face aren't signs that something is wrong with us—they're often our nervous systems responding to experiences we've lived through.

When we understand how trauma impacts our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, we can begin to approach ourselves and others with greater compassion. That's why everything I offer is grounded in trauma-informed principles that prioritise safety, connection and understanding.

Whether I'm supporting a child in the classroom, guiding a parent workshop, coaching someone through personal challenges, or helping organisations build healthier workplace cultures, my focus is always on creating spaces where people feel seen, heard and empowered.

What exactly is trauma?

TRAUMA

noun

/ˈtrɔ·mə,ˈtraʊ.mə/

Trauma is an emotional response to an event or series of events that are deeply distressing or disturbing to an individual. This can range from one-time incidents, such as accidents, natural disasters, or violent attacks, to ongoing stressors, such as chronic illness, emotional abuse, or living in a conflict zone.

Trauma is not defined solely by the event itself but by the individual's experience of it. Two people can undergo the same event, yet their psychological and emotional responses may differ significantly. Trauma can disrupt the individual's sense of safety, leading to feelings of helplessness and a diminished sense of self and can affect one's ability to cope with and enjoy day-to-day life.

The impact of trauma can be immediate or delayed, with symptoms surfacing long after the traumatic event has passed, where the effects of trauma become deeply integrated into an individual's identity and way of interacting with the world.

Trauma can deeply affect our bodies, minds, and emotions, often in ways we might not fully understand, and can have profound long-term implications for individuals, including:

  • Mental Health Challenges

  • Chronic Illness

  • Physical Health Issues

  • Emotional Regulation Difficulties

  • Relationship Challenges

  • Substance Use & Abuse

  • Impaired Sense of Self

What People Experience When We Work Together

Creating meaningful change starts with feeling understood. Here's what some of the people I've had the privilege of supporting have shared about their experience.

We are incredibly grateful to Emily who delivered a brilliant trauma-informed workshop to the Funding Futures team. She created a safe, respectful and engaging environment which was hugely appreciated. The workshop was totally inclusive and very sensitively demonstrated. What can be a difficult subject to talk about was handled with care and empathy. Our team members commented how much more confident and better equipped they felt about moving forward in their future roles. Thank you Emily!

- Funding Futures

My trauma-informed coaching session with Emily was profoundly supportive and enlightening. Her innate empathy and wisdom created a safe space where I felt comfortable opening up and embracing her guidance. Emily's remarkable insight helped me identify recurring themes in my life that have continued to influence me long after our session concluded. Thank you Emily! Highly recommended.

I came away from Emily's workshop with a whole new perspective on the physiological effects of domestic abuse and how it effects the nervous system. I was already aware of bits of information that I had picked up over the years, but Emily was able to seamlessly

tie all this information together in a way that makes perfect sense to me now. Emily is a great speaker and engaging person, I was hooked on every word.
