It’s good to talk but coping with life starts in the nervous system.
A Bottom-Up Approach to Mental Health & Wellbeing
There was a point where my mental health hit rock bottom. I was existing, not living, and the loneliest part of it wasn't the struggle itself, it was feeling like no one around me really understood what I was carrying. I didn't want another appointment, another form, another person telling me to 'look after myself'. I wanted to be in a room with people who got it. People who understood without me having to justify or explain, who wouldn't judge, and who made me feel like I wasn't the only one feeling this way.
That need for genuine connection, for a space that felt safe rather than clinical, is exactly why I created these groups. Not therapy. Not a lecture. A real, trauma-informed community where you can turn up exactly as you are, learn tools that actually work with your nervous system rather than against it, and sit alongside people who understand.
That experience is what led me to create two different spaces, because not everyone's breaking point looks the same. For some, it's the everyday overwhelm of stress, anxiety, and life just feeling like too much. For others, it's specifically the confusion and pain of narcissistic abuse and the reasons why leaving is so much harder than people realise, unless you've been through it yourself or are going through it now.

I run two weekly community sessions in Bolton:
Mental Wellbeing Club: Tuesdays in Harwood, a space for general mental wellbeing, stress, and anxiety
Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Group: Thursdays in Westhoughton, specifically for those who have experienced or are experiencing narcissistic abuse
Each session is £10, no pressure to talk, and everyone is welcome exactly as they are.
Every session, whichever group you join, follows the same
trauma-informed structure, so you always know what to expect.
A -
Arrive & Settle
A gentle landing point as you walk through the door
Time to get a drink and settle into the room
An optional, gentle guided practice to help your nervous system come out of 'rush mode' and into the present
Nothing forced, nothing performative, just space to arrive as you are
B -
Build Capacity
The teaching part of the session, grounded in nervous system education
Simple, practical explanations, reflective exercises and tools you can actually use in real life
Learning why your reactions, shutdown, or anxiety make complete sense
Building your capacity to cope with pressure: not trying to make life calm, but building your ability to hold what life brings
C -
Connect, Chat & Integrate
The relaxed, social close to the session
Space to chat, reflect, or just sit alongside others (totally your choice)
Held within a trauma-informed framework so it always feels safe and contained
No pressure to share anything specific... just human connection

Hi, I’m Emily, the founder of Embrace Your Freedom, a trauma-informed wellbeing practitioner and a full-time primary school teacher. My work is all about helping people feel safe, understood and supported.
Alongside my professional training, my work is also shaped by my own lived experiences, particularly around emotional wellbeing and narcissistic abuse. I understand how overwhelming things can feel at times, and how important it is to have a space where you don’t feel judged or pressured.
That’s why I created the Mental Wellbeing Club.
It’s a calm, supportive space where you can learn more about your mental wellbeing, begin to understand your thoughts, feelings and nervous system, and connect with others, all at your own pace.
There’s no pressure to share, no expectation to have it all figured out… just space to be you.
You are so welcome here, exactly as you are.
Come along to a supportive space designed for people who may feel nervous, overwhelmed or unsure. We promise you won’t be the only one. Take that important first step and book your place in a safe, gentle space where nothing is expected of you and you are welcome just as you are. We are confident that you will make new friends too.

Emily really puts you at ease. You aren’t there for a pleasant reason but you feel comfortable even with new people. She talks you through how the session will go so you know the structure and what to expect. She’s very patient and allows you to say anything you feel comfortable sharing. She’s caring and compassionate and shares her own experiences so you know she’s not just parrot fashion regurgitating what the text books say. I learn new things every week about myself and the situation I am am in and even look and see how the session has mirrored real life almost like vindication and validation. Helping me see and understand what I wasn’t able to piece together myself. We’re only a few weeks into the course and I can feel little nuggets of hope settling in that helps me work towards being stronger in the future. I highly recommend Emily 1000% 🫶🏻🥰 xxx

I came across Emily when she advertised a workshop she was holding about the physiology of domestic abuse, which I attended and found it very informative. She then reached out to me to let me know about the Narcissitic abuse recovery group she was creating.
I am so glad I decided to sign up. Emily makes you feel so comfortable and at ease and the group is very informal. You don’t feel like you have to talk, you can just sit and listen. Each group is about a different area and really helps you to understand the very sensitive subject. I highly recommend this group and if you have any questions, I know Emily would be happy for you to reach out. Thank you, Emily. You have helped me more than you realise ☺️
